NDIS

What is provided?

If you are plan-managed or self-managed, I am happy to discuss with you whether my skills and experience are suited to meeting your or your child's needs. This can include:

  • Functional Assessments - Plan Entry or Review

  • Structured goal planning

  • Emotional Regulation skills

  • Developing strategies for accessing the community, work and school

Please be aware my experience and training are very much mental health and behaviourally orientated. Therefore, if a physical disability causes functional deficits, it is likely that you would be better served by accessing an alternative professional for support.

As an additional benefit to providing services under the NDIS format, I am able to conduct sessions out of the office, in the community, or in your own home. Travel time is charged at the same hourly rate ($190), and the kilometers are charged at $0.97 per km.

*** As of recent changes to NDIS in October 2024, there has been an increased need to differentiate between Mental Health 'clinical treatment' and Psychosocial support (With goals towards functional independence, relationships, work or school participation etc...)

I have sought clarification from NDIS and have received the following reply:

"[a distinction needs to be made]...between treatment of patients for mental health conditions and OT interventions which assist a person to build their capacity. Participants with mental health conditions should be appropriately connected to mental health services (private, public or community) to receive treatment for mental health and can use their NDIS funds for capacity building supports and services that assist them to build/maintain the skills they need for day to day living ". [9/1/2025 NDIS Provider Support]

As a general guide, please see the below to clarify whether the interventions are 'clinical treatment' or 'capacity building supports'.

Therefore, if a treatment is required (Eg. Reduction in PTSD symptoms through EMDR) treatment, I will need to receive a referral with rebates to yourself through Medicare for psychological interventions.

However, if the goals are emotional regulation, relationship management skills, or any of the other capacity-building skill improvement, training, or coaching interventions related to the NDIS-funded disability, I will be able to provide these interventions and invoice the NDIS for them.
